Newcomer Groups
Joining a Newcomer Group (6 weeks) is the primary way to get introduced to other new-ish folks at Christ Church and interact with the vision and mission of Christ Church. These groups gather around the table for dinner or dessert with a focus on:
Weeks 1-2: Getting to know one another
Weeks 3-4: Getting to know our life journeys and questions (skeptical, curious or committed)
Week 5: Getting to know Christ Church
Week 6: What’s Next?
Neighborhood Groups
Joining a Neighborhood Group (15 weeks) is the best way to connect with others people at Christ Church and explore what it means to love God and neighbor. These groups of 8-14 people meet in apartments and homes throughout the Bay Area during the week to share a meal, talk about the issues of life, discuss the Sunday scripture and sermon, strategize creative ways to love our neighbors, and pray together.

Don’t be afraid to ask people at Christ Church about their Community Groups, remembering that every person in a Community Group was, at one point, uninvolved and perhaps as hesitant to get connected as you may be. If you have further questions, please .
Important Notes on Neighborhood Groups
- We encourage you to sign up for one group at a time and attend that group 2-4 times before trying out another one; it usually takes that long to determine if a group is a good fit for you.
- We encourage you to seek out a group that is close to your home because geographical proximity is central to the formation of community. However, some of you may need to venture away from your own neighborhood in order to find a group that will best suit your needs (e.g. parents may be interested in one of our group with childcare available).
- Our groups take one week off per month to “love our neighbors” and serve together with a social service partner. If you are planning to attend a group for the first time, please email the group leader before showing up at the usual meeting place and time to make sure that the group is not involved in a service project that week.
