29 &#8220;Lord, now you are letting your servant [1] depart in peace,
according to your word;
30 for my eyes have seen your salvation
31 that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel.&#8221;

33 And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him. 34 And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, &#8220;Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed 35 (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.&#8221;

36 And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years from when she was a virgin, 37 and then as a widow until she was eighty&#45;four. [2] She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. 38 And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.
The Return to Nazareth

39 And when they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. 40 And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

2:1 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration when [1] Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And all went to be registered, each to his own town. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, [2] who was with child. 6 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
The Shepherds and the Angels

8 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. 10 And the angel said to them, &#8220;Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.&#8221; 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

14 &#8220;Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!&#8221; [3]

15 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, &#8220;Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.&#8221; 16 And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. 17 And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.

21 And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

Rejoice and exult with all your heart,

15 The Lord has taken away the judgments against you;
he has cleared away your enemies.
The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst;
you shall never again fear evil.
16 On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem:
&#8220;Fear not, O Zion;
let not your hands grow weak.
17 The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.
18 I will gather those of you who mourn for the festival,
so that you will no longer suffer reproach. [1]
19 Behold, at that time I will deal
with all your oppressors.
And I will save the lame
and gather the outcast,
and I will change their shame into praise

at the time when I gather you together;

incline your ear to my understanding,
2 that you may keep discretion,
and your lips may guard knowledge.
3 For the lips of a forbidden [1] woman drip honey,
and her speech [2] is smoother than oil,
4 but in the end she is bitter as wormwood,
sharp as a two&#45;edged sword.
5 Her feet go down to death;
her steps follow the path to [3] Sheol;
6 she does not ponder the path of life;
her ways wander, and she does not know it.

7 And now, O sons, listen to me,
and do not depart from the words of my mouth.
8 Keep your way far from her,
and do not go near the door of her house,
9 lest you give your honor to others
and your years to the merciless,
10 lest strangers take their fill of your strength,
and your labors go to the house of a foreigner,
11 and at the end of your life you groan,
when your flesh and body are consumed,
12 and you say, &#8220;How I hated discipline,
and my heart despised reproof!
13 I did not listen to the voice of my teachers
or incline my ear to my instructors.
14 I am at the brink of utter ruin
in the assembled congregation.&#8221;

15 Drink water from your own cistern,
flowing water from your own well.
16 Should your springs be scattered abroad,
streams of water in the streets?
17 Let them be for yourself alone,
and not for strangers with you.
18 Let your fountain be blessed,
and rejoice in the wife of your youth,
19 a lovely deer, a graceful doe.
Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight;
be intoxicated [4] always in her love.
20 Why should you be intoxicated, my son, with a forbidden woman
and embrace the bosom of an adulteress? [5]
21 For a man&#39;s ways are before the eyes of the Lord,
and he ponders [6] all his paths.
22 The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him,
and he is held fast in the cords of his sin.
23 He dies for lack of discipline,
and because of his great folly he is led astray.</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

Pr 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
 and lean not on your own understanding;

Pr 3:6 in all your ways submit to him,
 and he will make your paths straight.

Pr 3:7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
 fear the Lord and shun evil.

Pr 3:8 This will bring health to your body
 and nourishment to your bones.

Pr 3:9 Honor the Lord with your wealth,
 with the firstfruits of all your crops;

Pr 3:10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
 and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Pr 3:11 My son, do not despise the Lord&#8217;s discipline,
 and do not resent his rebuke,

Pr 3:12 because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
 as a father the son he delights in.</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

4 through knowledge its rooms are filled
with rare and beautiful treasures.

5 A wise man has great power,
and a man of knowledge increases strength;

6 for waging war you need guidance,
and for victory many advisers.

7 Wisdom is too high for a fool;
in the assembly at the gate he has nothing to say.

8 He who plots evil
will be known as a schemer.

9 The schemes of folly are sin,
and men detest a mocker.

10 If you falter in times of trouble,
how small is your strength!

11 Rescue those being led away to death;
hold back those staggering toward slaughter.

12 If you say, &quot;But we knew nothing about this,&quot;
does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?
Does not he who guards your life know it?
Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?

13 Eat honey, my son, for it is good;
honey from the comb is sweet to your taste.

if you find it, there is a future hope for you,

19 &quot;There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man&#39;s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

    22 &quot;The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham&#39;s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, &#39;Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.&#39;

    25 &quot;But Abraham replied, &#39;Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.&#39;

    27 &quot;He answered, &#39;Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.&#39;

    29 &quot;Abraham replied, &#39;They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.&#39;

Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.&#39;

    3 &quot;The manager said to himself, &#39;What shall I do now? My master is taking away my job. I&#39;m not strong enough to dig, and I&#39;m ashamed to beg&#8212; 4 I know what I&#39;ll do so that, when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.&#39;

    5 &quot;So he called in each one of his master&#39;s debtors. He asked the first, &#39;How much do you owe my master?&#39;

    6 &quot; &#39;Nine hundred gallons of olive oil,&#39; he replied.
       &quot;The manager told him, &#39;Take your bill, sit down quickly, and make it four hundred and fifty.&#39;

    7 &quot;Then he asked the second, &#39;And how much do you owe?&#39;
       &quot; &#39;A thousand bushels of wheat,&#39; he replied.
       &quot;He told him, &#39;Take your bill and make it eight hundred.&#39;

    8 &quot;The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light. 9 I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.

    10 &quot;Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? 12 And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else&#39;s property, who will give you property of your own?

    13 &quot;No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.&quot;</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

So taking hold of the man, he healed him and sent him on his way.

    5 Then he asked them, &quot;If one of you has a child or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull it out?&quot; 6 And they had nothing to say.

    7 When he noticed how the guests picked the places of honor at the table, he told them this parable: 8 &quot;When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. 9 If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, &#39;Give this person your seat.&#39; Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. 10 But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, &#39;Friend, move up to a better place.&#39; Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. 11 For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.&quot;

    12 Then Jesus said to his host, &quot;When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. 13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14 and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.&quot;

15 When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, &quot;Blessed are those who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.&quot;

    16 Jesus replied: &quot;A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. 17 At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, &#39;Come, for everything is now ready.&#39;

    18 &quot;But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, &#39;I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.&#39;

    19 &quot;Another said, &#39;I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I&#39;m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.&#39;

    20 &quot;Still another said, &#39;I just got married, so I can&#39;t come.&#39;

    21 &quot;The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, &#39;Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.&#39;

    22 &quot; &#39;Sir,&#39; the servant said, &#39;what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.&#39;

    23 &quot;Then the master told his servant, &#39;Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. 24 I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.&#39; &quot;</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4 Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them&#8212;do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.&quot;

    6 Then he told this parable: &quot;A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any. 7 So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, &#39;For three years now I&#39;ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven&#39;t found any.     14 Jesus replied, &quot;Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?&quot; 15 Then he said to them, &quot;Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.&quot;

    16 And he told them this parable: &quot;The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, &#39;What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.&#39;

    18 &quot;Then he said, &#39;This is what I&#39;ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I&#39;ll say to myself, &quot;You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.&quot; &#39;

    20 &quot;But God said to him, &#39;You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?&#39;

    21 &quot;This is how it will be with those who store up things for themselves but are not rich toward God.&quot;

    22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: &quot;Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

    27 &quot;Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you&#8212;you of little faith! 29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

    32 &quot;Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

    26 &quot;What is written in the Law?&quot; he replied. &quot;How do you read it?&quot;

    27 He answered, &quot; &#39;Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind&#39; ; and, &#39;Love your neighbor as yourself.&#39;.&quot;

    28 &quot;You have answered correctly,&quot; Jesus replied. &quot;Do this and you will live.&quot;

    29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, &quot;And who is my neighbor?&quot;

    30 In reply Jesus said: &quot;A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. &#39;Look after him,&#39; he said, &#39;and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.&#39;

    36 &quot;Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?&quot;

      <title>The Parable of the Sower, Seed, and Soil</title>
       <itunes:author>Jonathan St. Clair</itunes:author>              <link>http://www.christchurchberkeley.org/</link>
                                              <itunes:subtitle>Passage: Luke 8:1&#45;15, 18&#45;21 :: Series: The Storyteller</itunes:subtitle> <itunes:summary>Luke 8:1&#45;15, 18&#45;21 (TNIV) 1 After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, 2 and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; 3 Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod&#39;s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.

    4 While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable: 5 &quot;A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. 6 Some fell on rock, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.&quot;
       When he said this, he called out, &quot;Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.&quot;

    9 His disciples asked him what this parable meant. 10 He said, &quot;The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that,
       &quot; &#39;though seeing, they may not see;
       though hearing, they may not understand.&#39;

    11 &quot;This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. 14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life&#39;s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. 15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.

    18 Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Those who have will be given more; as for those who do not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.&quot;
    19 Now Jesus&#39; mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. 20 Someone told him, &quot;Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.&quot;

    21 He replied, &quot;My mother and brothers are those who hear God&#39;s word and put it into practice.&quot;</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

       do not remain silent,
    2 for people who are wicked and deceitful
       have opened their mouths against me;
       they have spoken against me with lying tongues.
    3 With words of hatred they surround me;
       they attack me without cause.
    4 In return for my friendship they accuse me,
       but I am a man of prayer.
    5 They repay me evil for good,
       and hatred for my friendship.
    6 Appoint someone evil to oppose my enemy;
       let an accuser stand at his right hand.
    7 When he is tried, let him be found guilty,
       and may his prayers condemn him.
    8 May his days be few;
       may another take his place of leadership.
    9 May his children be fatherless
       and his wife a widow.
    10 May his children be wandering beggars;
       may they be driven from their ruined homes.
    11 May a creditor seize all he has;
       may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.
    12 May no one extend kindness to him
       or take pity on his fatherless children.
    13 May his descendants be cut off,
       their names blotted out from the next generation.
    14 May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the LORD;
       may the sin of his mother never be blotted out.
    15 May their sins always remain before the LORD,
       that he may blot out their name from the earth.
    16 For he never thought of doing a kindness,
       but hounded to death the poor
       and the needy and the brokenhearted.
    17 He loved to pronounce a curse&#8212;
       may it come on him.
       He found no pleasure in blessing&#8212;
       may it be far from him.
    18 He wore cursing as his garment;
       it entered into his body like water,
       into his bones like oil.
    19 May it be like a cloak wrapped about him,
       like a belt tied forever around him.
    20 May this be the LORD&#39;s payment to my accusers,
       to those who speak evil of me.
    21 But you, Sovereign LORD,
       help me for your name&#39;s sake;
       out of the goodness of your love, deliver me.
    22 For I am poor and needy,
       and my heart is wounded within me.
    23 I fade away like an evening shadow;
       I am shaken off like a locust.
    24 My knees give way from fasting;
       my body is thin and gaunt.
    25 I am an object of scorn to my accusers;
       when they see me, they shake their heads.
    26 Help me, LORD my God;
       save me according to your unfailing love.
    27 Let them know that it is your hand,
       that you, LORD, have done it.
    28 While they curse, may you bless;
       may those who attack me be put to shame,
       but may your servant rejoice.
    29 May my accusers be clothed with disgrace
       and wrapped in shame as in a cloak.
    30 With my mouth I will greatly extol the LORD;
       in the great throng of worshipers I will praise him.
    31 For he stands at the right hand of the needy,

       I cried out to God to hear me.
    2 When I was in distress, I sought the Lord;
       at night I stretched out untiring hands,
       and I would not be comforted.
    3 I remembered you, God, and I groaned;
       I meditated, and my spirit grew faint.
    4 You kept my eyes from closing;
       I was too troubled to speak.
    5 I thought about the former days,
       the years of long ago;
    6 I remembered my songs in the night.
       My heart meditated and my spirit asked:
    7 &quot;Will the Lord reject forever?
       Will he never show his favor again?
    8 Has his unfailing love vanished forever?
       Has his promise failed for all time?
    9 Has God forgotten to be merciful?
       Has he in anger withheld his compassion?&quot;
    10 Then I thought, &quot;To this I will appeal:
       the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand.
    11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD;
       yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
    12 I will consider all your works
       and meditate on all your mighty deeds.&quot;
    13 Your ways, God, are holy.
       What god is as great as our God?
    14 You are the God who performs miracles;
       you display your power among the peoples.
    15 With your mighty arm you redeemed your people,
       the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.
    16 The waters saw you, God,
       the waters saw you and writhed;
       the very depths were convulsed.
    17 The clouds poured down water,
       the heavens resounded with thunder;
       your arrows flashed back and forth.
    18 Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind,
       your lightning lit up the world;
       the earth trembled and quaked.
    19 Your path led through the sea,
       your way through the mighty waters,
       though your footprints were not seen.
    20 You led your people like a flock
       by the hand of Moses and Aaron.</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

       he turned to me and heard my cry.
    2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
       out of the mud and mire;
       he set my feet on a rock
       and gave me a firm place to stand.
    3 He put a new song in my mouth,
       a hymn of praise to our God.
       Many will see and fear the LORD
       and put their trust in him.
    4 Blessed are those
       who make the LORD their trust,
       who do not look to the proud,
       to those who turn aside to false gods.
    5 Many, LORD my God,
       are the wonders you have done,
       the things you planned for us.
       None can compare with you;
       were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
       they would be too many to declare.
    6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire&#8212;
       but my ears you have opened&#8212;
       burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.
    7 Then I said, &quot;Here I am, I have come&#8212;
       it is written about me in the scroll.
    8 I desire to do your will, my God;
       your law is within my heart.&quot;
    9 I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly;
       I do not seal my lips, LORD,
       as you know.
    10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart;
       I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help.

       whom shall I fear?
       The LORD is the stronghold of my life&#8212;
       of whom shall I be afraid?
    2 When the wicked advance against me
       to devour me,
       it is my enemies and my foes
       who will stumble and fall.
    3 Though an army besiege me,
       my heart will not fear;
       though war break out against me,
       even then I will be confident.
    4 One thing I ask from the LORD,
       this only do I seek:
       that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
       all the days of my life,
       to gaze on the beauty of the LORD
       and to seek him in his temple.
    5 For in the day of trouble
       he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
       he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle
       and set me high upon a rock.
    6 Then my head will be exalted
       above the enemies who surround me;
       at his tabernacle I will sacrifice with shouts of joy;
       I will sing and make music to the LORD.
    7 Hear my voice when I call, LORD;
       be merciful to me and answer me.
    8 My heart says of you, &quot;Seek his face!&quot;
       Your face, LORD, I will seek.
    9 Do not hide your face from me,
       do not turn your servant away in anger;
       you have been my helper.
       Do not reject me or forsake me,
       God my Savior.
    10 Though my father and mother forsake me,
       the LORD will receive me.
    11 Teach me your way, LORD;
       lead me in a straight path
       because of my oppressors.
    12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
       for false witnesses rise up against me,
       spouting malicious accusations.
    13 I remain confident of this:
       I will see the goodness of the LORD
       in the land of the living.
    14 Wait for the LORD;
       be strong and take heart
       and wait for the LORD.</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

       the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
    2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
       night after night they display knowledge.
    3 They have no speech, they use no words;
       no sound is heard from them.
    4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
       their words to the ends of the world.
       In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,
    5 which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
       like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
    6 It rises at one end of the heavens
       and makes its circuit to the other;
       nothing is deprived of its warmth.
    7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
       refreshing the soul.
       The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
       making wise the simple.
    8 The precepts of the LORD are right,
       giving joy to the heart.
       The commands of the LORD are radiant,
       giving light to the eyes.
    9 The fear of the LORD is pure,
       enduring forever.
       The ordinances of the LORD are sure,
       and all of them are righteous.
    10 They are more precious than gold,
       than much pure gold;
       they are sweeter than honey,
       than honey from the honeycomb.
    11 By them your servant is warned;
       in keeping them there is great reward.
    12 But who can discern their own errors?
       Forgive my hidden faults.
    13 Keep your servant also from willful sins;
       may they not rule over me.
       Then I will be blameless,
       innocent of great transgression.
    14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart

    2 The LORD looks down from heaven

    3 All have turned away, all have become corrupt;

       who do not walk in step with the wicked
       or stand in the way that sinners take
       or sit in the company of mockers,
    2 but who delight in the law of the LORD
       and meditate on his law day and night.
    3 They are like a tree planted by streams of water,
       which yields its fruit in season
       and whose leaf does not wither&#8212;
       whatever they do prospers.
    4 Not so the wicked!
       They are like chaff
       that the wind blows away.
    5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
       nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
    6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
       but the way of the wicked will be destroyed.</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

Trust in God; trust also in me. 2 My Father&#39;s house has plenty of room; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.&quot;
5  Thomas said to him, &quot;Lord, we don&#39;t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?&quot;
6  Jesus answered, &quot;I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.&quot;
8 Philip said, &quot;Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.
9 Jesus answered: &quot;Don&#39;t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, &#39;Show us the Father&#39;? 10 Don&#39;t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, all who have faith in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
15 &quot;If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever&#8212; 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. Anyone who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.&quot;</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

      <title>Serve Me Before You Serve the Poor!</title>

Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. 3 Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on
Jesus&#39; feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
   4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 &quot;Why wasn&#39;t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year&#39;s wages.&quot; 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to
what was put into it.
    7  &quot;Leave her alone,&quot; Jesus replied. &quot;[It was intended] that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. 8 You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.&quot;
    9 Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, 11 for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in him.
    12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the Festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem.</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>

      <title>You Must Eat My Flesh</title>

                                              <itunes:subtitle>Passage: John 6:48&#45;69 :: Series: He Said What?</itunes:subtitle> <itunes:summary>John 6:48&#45;69 (TNIV) 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. 50 But here is the
bread that comes down from heaven, which people may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came
down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for
the life of the world.&quot;
52  Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, &quot;How can this man give us his flesh to eat?&quot;
53 Jesus said to them, &quot;Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,
you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them
up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks
my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so
the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your
ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.&quot; 59 He said this while teach&#45;
ing in the synagogue in Capernaum.
60  On hearing it, many of his disciples said, &quot;This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?&quot;
61 Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, &quot;Does this offend you? 62 Then
what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! 63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for
nothing. The words I have spoken to you&#8212;they are full of the Spirit and life. 64 Yet there are some of you
who do not believe.&quot; For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who
would betray him. 65 He went on to say, &quot;This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father
has enabled them.&quot;
66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
67 &quot;You do not want to leave too, do you?&quot; Jesus asked the Twelve.
68 Simon Peter answered him, &quot;Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have
come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.&quot;</itunes:summary> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>
